Merry Christmas!

This will most likely be my last post of the year. I just wanted to take the time to thank all of my customers and loyal blog readers for a great year. I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful new year.
p.s. I have plans for some new and wonderful things in 2009. This first thing will be a post on this blog directing you to a new and improved blog website. I can't wait.

All of "my" babies have been growing strong this year. I love having them back every few months and seeing thier progress. This little guy was on the move! His one year session should be a blast! I am keeping my baby plan as it is for 2009, so if anyone is interested in signing up give me a call. I will be adding a new plan that will go beyond the first year. The details will be announced in 2009.

Got My Toes

One of the "milestones" that parents get excited about is when their child discovers their feet. At about 6 months this is usually happening. Parents get so excited about this milestone and both the parents and I love to capture it during our portrait sessions. This little guy is by far the best toe eater I have had, he literally had both feet in his mouth at times. We got a big photo series of this as he was just having a good old time chewing on his toes.

This session was from a while ago in Chattanooga. We did a combo of studio type shots as well as some environmental. I thought I would share some nursery images of this little one, I loved her ladybug nursery.

Daddy is a police officer and this little one had quite a collection started of pig stuffed animals, someone has a sense of humor!

I have been super busy and I haven't been posting previews, so here are a few showcases of images. The first one is a couple of Happy Boys!

You will remember J from a few posts back. He came back to do some studio pictures since the park was a little cold on the day we chose. We did get some awesome serious shots in the park that day, but he saved the smiles for the studio day!

Baby W is a new addition to my Baby Club. I saw him last as a newborn. He was certainly a happy boy this day too.

I know you can't see is face in thise one, but I am in love with this image.

Operation Smile - Total

Thanks to everyone for supporting my very first charity event! It is great to be able to give back in this way. All small business owners should try to give where they can, actually everyone should! With YOUR Help, I have raised $474.90 for Operation Smile! I am making this an even $500! This pays for 2 surgeries for children born with facial deformities to give them a smile. That should make all of you smile, I know it makes me smile.

I sold 15 Smile Collages to help get to this amount. Yes I am still working on many of those, so bear with me please. Thanks for making this a success!

We are having a Trunk-or-treat event at my church where you trick-or-treat from trunk to truck each one decorated with a different theme. There will be lots of other stuff (see below) and we are decorating and handing out candy from our trunk too.

My fall mini sessions were a success! I am happy to announce that I have earned enough money to pay for at least one smile for a child for the Operation Smile charity event. I will have a total soon! There is still time to order a Smile collage, but only a few more days! The offer expires on October 31st.

So here are some pictures of the Gorgeous Families that came to get their fall family portraits done. Although we did not have very much fall color, we did have some great locations to work with regardless.

Christmas Set

Here are a few photos of my Christmas set. It will give you a good idea of what the set will look like during my Christmas minis, however please excuse my model on these photos. I had a very uncoorperative 2 year old on my hands tonight, what can I say except she is a photographer's kid! We haven't purchased her Christmas dress yet and her hair was in pigtails today. It does show that it will go with just about any outfit. If you just want dress the kids something simple like Kyndal is wearing here or bring them all dolled up in their Christmas outfits.

And just for kicks, I got a whole lot of pictures like this tonight.... or the back of her head.... or an empty chair.

This is such a timeless image. I have seen pictures of my sister and I in dresses very similar to this, I thought the antique bench was appropriate.

Christmas Sessions

Yes it is time to prepare for the holiday season, it will be here before you know it. I am going to have a special holiday set again this season. Just about any holiday outfit will go with this set, from whites and creams, to reds and greens. It will be for the Kiddo's only though. I will also be putting a date on the calendar for the families to get another chance to get that Christmas Card photo done so watch for details soon. Right now I am announcing the dates of November 6th and November 8th for the kids Christmas photos. Details to follow on special packages, sample photos, and details on last family portrait event for the year. Let me know if you are interested in either one of these specials and I will reserve a spot for you.

In the meantime, here are all of the Christmas cards I am offering this year. For those who did Christmas cards with me last year, you will notice that these designs have a front and a back. I am now offering two sided press printed cards in addition to the standard photo cards. All of these are 5x7 with the exception of one square card, a 5x5.

I was happy photograph this family again while Ruth (Grandma) was in TN from France. I got to meet Ruth when I did little Maddie's newborn photos, since then I have just been shipping pictures over to France. She called to let me know when she would be in town again and wanted 3 generation photos done.

They are simply gorgeous! We got so many great photos, I am only sharing a few here.

I have photographed this little gal since she was 6 weeks old and here she is a big sister! I can't tell you what a treat it was to actually do some of these newborn photos outside. So here are the adorable brother and sister, and let me tell you baby G looks just like his big sister did at that age. My beautiful Maternity customer from a few posts back had her baby. I took pictures yesterday of this little peanut only one week old.

This one needs to be named "The Pose"... often asked for not as often achieved. She even had a smile on her face in this one, another rare shot for a newborn!

Her eyes were open for a lot of the session, and she focused very well for a one week old!

I am so excited because Sunday we are leaving for vacation! I will have access to email and orders while away (yes I will be doing a little work), but I will not be placing new orders until I get back since I don't want packages sitting on our doorstep. We have not had a real vacation since I was preggers with my daughter, she is 2 now so it has been a while. We have had a few days here and there, but not a week long vacation!

Sunday we are hitting the road and heading to Savannah GA for an overnight stay. Monday we are off to Charleston, SC for 4 nights on Folly Beach. We are even going to have our beach portraits taken while we are there. Then back through Atlanta for some shopping at IKEA and the container store!

So anyway I may not be quite as prompt replying to emails, no internet access on the beach you know!

I can't wait to share beach pictures, in the meantime here are some from 2 recent sessions.

Ha, so much for posting "previews" for my customers. I am at least posting a few after I am done proofing each session for my loyal blog readers. When times are busy, I slack a little on blogging.

Here is Miss Alyza, she came back to visit me for her 18 month portraits. We had to move her session from a foggy, wet Saturday am, to a rather sticky hot evening. I am glad we did though, I prefer evening light and nobody would have been happy on that wet Saturday morning.

I did get smiles, but my favorites are these two non-smiling ones.

I will be adding a complete line of Mother of Pearl photo tiles, custom beaded necklaces, keychains, bracelets, bookmarks, and Christmas ornaments to my ordering system soon. Here is one of my Baby's First Year babies and his Mommy and Daddy. They are such an adorable family, and every time I see them it brings me joy to see how much love they have for this little guy! One thing I find funny is that he still looks much like he did when I did his newborn photos. Often I found that babies looks change so much from their newborn to 3 month session, like a different baby, not the case with Cameron. He is such a happy boy. I can't wait until his 7 month session, I am sure it will be fun!

One HOT August Day, One shy two year old, and One Copperhead Snake - Murfreesboro Portrait Session

My first August session, and it was HOT!! I often suggest for this age we go outside for a session, since it is so difficult for them in a studio setting. I take that back, this probably applies to every month except August, LOL! We even scheduled it early to beat the heat, Ha! It has been about a year since I last photographer Alex, he was a shy boy for this session. We have a whole lot of serious shots! We ventured to the creek, that often will break a kid out of their shell! Then we saw the biggest snake I have ever seen in the wild. Jon said it looked like a Copperhead, so I googled it and sure enough it was a Copperhead! I actually had them all sitting at that very spot about 30 minutes before we saw the snake. Smack... that is the sound of me slapping myself on the forehead.... why didn't I take a picture of that snake???

The R Family came in for the kids portraits. First let me post one that I love. It is a little Non-traditional, but I think it is perfect because it shows the smallest one's personality (on the go).

Then for the traditional. I got these new props and was excited to try them, so was the Mommy of this little one. The baby HATED the hat, but we got a few profile shots. I think this would look lovely hanging in a bathroom. I also gave it a little vitage touch color, I think it is fitting of this image.

I am so thankful for all of my wonderful customers, I love watching your children grow. I am thankful that our move is complete and our old house is sold. Setting up and decorating my studio in my new home is still a work in progress, I can't wait to have it all done though! I have been busier than ever and am still managing to keep it all strait, at least I think I am :) I am looking for many things to happen with Kristin Aune Photography in the coming months, specials, new products, contests.... It is an exciting time I can't wait to see what God has in store for us! I just wanted to take the time and say thanks to everyone and thanks to God!

This little duo came to me after Mommy and Daddy stopped by my booth at the baby fair at Baptist Hospital a couple of months ago. I want to welcome them to my baby club!

I got more smiles out of GG and apparently that is not the normal of this pair.
I did manage to get a few from HD though.

I got a series of photos of this, HD chewing on Sister's hand. Let me tell you it was one of the cutest things I have ever seen! Even looking at the photos afterward just melts my heart!

Boy I sure have been a bad blogger, so much for giving people sneak previews before their galleries are ready. I have been so busy, but will catch up on blogging before I get back to getting orders ready.

This is James, he is 2. We had fun exploring the train, seeing the ducks and picking up rocks and sticks as all boys do. I also enjoyed talking to him about McDonalds and his love for french fries and "double cheese"!

This is Corwin and I have been photographing him since before he was even born :) He is an active 2 year old, I have been getting a lot of those lately! He was one of two sessions at Centennial last Saturday. I fell in love with these pictures in Black and White and just had to post them here. I kind of had a vision for this spot and was pleased with the results as well as surprised with what I saw when I converted them to black and white. I don't want to give away all of my secrets, but I had Corwin trying to catch some ants so that I could get these shots :)

One of the cutest things about a 3 month old is the discovery of their feet. I remember when my daughter first found her toes and held onto them I grabbed the camera because I thought it was so cute. Here are two 3 month olds that I photographed last Monday in my new studio space that have discovered their toes. The Phillips family wanted to have a portrait done of the whole family. They met me at my favorite location and we had a great time. I love that their color choice matched the train! I have done photographs for this family several times and have Adaeze's 1 year old portraits just around the corner, isn't she cute and don't they all look fabulous?

Home and Studio update

So finally the move into our new home is complete (well mostly). I have actually had 2 sessions in my new HUGE studio (Huge to me anyway). It is still in a temporary state with only the portable backdrop stand up and no real furniture beside props and nothing on the wall, all that will come in time. I need to get a vision for the new space. So until I get back to being a regular blogger I am showing two favorites from two recent sessions. Brady was back for his 9 month photos and as cute as ever and my maternity customer had their baby, baby C, he is adorable and was so tiny!

5 week old Trace

Here is a sneak peak for his Mommy and Daddy. Trace was 5 weeks old and such a great baby, so calm! It is rare to get a 5 week old to sleep during a session, but by the end all he wanted to do was sleep and didn't want me messing with him! Thanks for having me over to photograph your newest addition!

And don't let this photograph fool you, I am not breaking into pet photography. I will however incorporate a "cooperative" furry member of the family. This little yorkie had such a cute smile :)

I have photographed this little gal since she was a newborn. We met up at Centennial park to do her 2 year portraits and she even had a little tea party with her stuffed bears. This pic is my fav although so many were super cute because of the adorable subject and the beautiful surroundings of spring flowers. I only have time to share one, since I need to get ready for tomorrow.

Some News....

A lot has been happening with Kristin Aune Photography and the Aune family, so I wanted to make sure and update everyone....

First of all I am going to have a Booth at the Baby Fair at Baptist Hospital on April 19th. This show is for new and expectant Mom's and there will be lots of door prizes and a ton of information and vendors, everything baby. If you come or send a friend make sure you tell them to check out my booth. Details are listed right on the front of the Baptist website.

Second, Kristin Aune Photography will be moving to a new studio space and the Aune family will be moving to a new home. We will have a ton more space both for our family and for my business. We close the end of this month, but are not sure when we will be completely in the new space. Right now I am having a lot of outdoor sessions but when the weather gets hot and I am back inside, I will have a lot more space to play with. Stay tuned for updates.

Lastly, beside preparing for the baby fair, listing our current home, buying a new home, and raising a toddler, here are a few pics from some recent sessions....

I photographed another beautiful Mom-to-be over the weekend, and if I do say so myself, some of her photos were FIERCE (yes too much project runway for me...LOL!).

I also had a Alyza back for her one year portraits, and she is graduating from the baby plan. Mom really wanted an outdoor session, but the weather hasn't been cooperating, so we are saving that for another time.

I forced myself outside today to take a few pictures since signs of spring are all over. Here is one of the Bradford Pear tree in our yard. The blossoms are so pretty up close and most of the time overlooked since they come and go so fast and there are so many Bradford pears in this area.

Here is a recent maternity session. The beautiful mom-to-be has seen all of her pictures already, but I wanted to show some recent work on my blog as well as two of my new backdrops.

I have a new white backdrop that I will probably be using for my baby planners, it is soft and drappy (is that a word?) Maybe I will get good at putting it up soon, It took Bret and I quite some time to get it to look how we wanted. I think it is pretty though. The second is a beige drop, it is lighter in color than the one that I have had for several years now and it might just be my new favorite. The last three are just some fav's.

Little Levi kicks off my Marathon March

Last night has kicked off a very busy time for Kristin Aune Photography and for just me. He was the first of 4 sessions this weekend, then my consignment sale starts on Sunday, the rest of March and April is proving to be just as busy with sessions, a trip to Texas(Kyndal Flying for the first time), and my first Baby Fair. So here goes, I had fun taking pictures of Levi and some of the whole family including older brother Lincoln.

Mom wanted more than anything a sleeping picture of Levi swaddled in a blanket on my antique chair. I didn't think we would get it since he was wide awake the whole time, but here it is. We actually got him to sleep on the chair, quite a task!

I love this one though, a baby yawn, I LOVE LOVE LOVE capturing baby yawns.

Baby oh Baby... Girls, Girls, Girls

Check out these pics from the the three sessions over the weekend, all baby girls. Where are all of the boys? Well I have a newborn baby boy session scheduled for next week, but I still get more baby girls than boys. So you baby boy Mommy and Daddy's, bring them on.

The first is Miss Emma She is 3 weeks old in these pictures. We got a few sleeping pictures, her Mommy asked me to bring the wooden chair that was used in Jackson's photos. She also requested the scale that I have.

Here is Stephanie and Michael, they are expected a baby girl in about 4 weeks. Aren't they cute? Michael is holding the baby booties in the first shot. We got some sweet (Grandma ready) shots, as well as some more artisic shots.

Here is Miss Madeline, she is 9 days old in theses photos. She was a pro, and a good sleeper. We were able to get the curled up newborns shots that her Mommy so desired. It worked out great because we were able to do her photos before she was even two weeks old. It is very important that they be less than 3 weeks old to get curled up sleeping photos, and even so I can't promise them, although I work as hard as I can to get them.
This shot was a real bonus for me. I got a few of her curled up on just Daddy's hands, and this one on both Mommy and Daddy's hand.

Two six month olds

This is the second time for both of these babies to have their portraits done by me, actually Adaeze's 3rd time, but the first time she wasn't born yet!

This is Brady. He was a trouper and was happy throughout the whole session even though he didn't have a good nap all day and it was late. This is the last photo I took and my favorite.

Here is a collage that his Mommy requested, since he didn't have newborn portraits we never got a precious parts collage, but this bits and pieces collage is just as cute.

Here is Adaeze. Look at all of those ponies! They actually put all those in when she is sleeping. She only had a 5 minute nap that day, long enough for her to get her hair done, but we got some smiles anyway!

So it has been quite a few weeks, see my daughter's blog for the complete story, but there were 2 ER visits during that time. I am sorry to those who I had to reschedule portrait or ordering sessions for. Here is one session that I am still working on, I am still a little behind on things. This is Jackson... a recent graduate of my baby plan. I have really enjoyed taking Jackson's pictures over this year, he is such a happy baby! We were able to do a cake session too, I love the picture of him eating his One candle. Oh and the stuffed giraffe picture... that is actually one of Kyndal's Christmas presents that she has been scared of (Once again see her blog for a great picture of her screaming on it). Jackson's mom saw it in the other room and liked it so I decided to get some use out of it for his session. Since then we have found Kyndal just rocking away on her Giraffe.

Oh, this is one of his newborn pictures, you probably recognize it from my home page. We did some one year pictures on the same chair. Wow he has grown.

New backdrop and super cute subject

Here is one of my new backdrops for 2008 and a super cute subject too, okay it is just my daughter. It is actually quite an accomplishment to get a good picture of her since she is always on the move, maybe I can become a sports photographer, I am certainly getting plenty of practice with a moving subject. Oh about the drop. It is a hotspot drop (notice the lighter area in the middle) and it is called Brown Sugar.

Christmas Season

I can't believe Christmas is only 2 weeks and 2 days away. These last few months have flown by, I guess that is because of the busy season of a photographer. I am now done with my sessions for the year, except for a baby that is due on Christmas day that may come early. I still have one session to proof, collages to make, and one more order to try to get done by Christmas, so much for taking December off. It really has been great though and I finally got our own family cards done and sent to the lab on Friday. We got our tree up yesterday, but it is not decorated yet. I guess there are a couple of reasons for that, one that I have been so busy with the business and parties and such, the other is that we are terrified of what is to come with a 15 month running around. According to the experienced parents we should just decorated the top half of it! I am finally feeling caught up though so I found some time to blog today. I can't wait to post our Christmas card, but I will wait until everybody that we are mailing them to get their card, I don't want to ruin it.

This time they brought big sis Sydney with them, she was sick when they came for Taylor's pictures so we saved the family portraits for another day. Catching up

Well I was without my laptop for about a week and a half. So I was trying to do some proofing on my old home pc, which is super slow. I finally got my laptop back(I wanted to hug the DHL delivery guy), and I am catching up with things. I still have two more sessions to proof, but I will be caught up before you know it. I am now catching up on some overdue blogging.

Here is a session that I was able to finish on the home pc, although I haven't shared it yet. This little guy is so cute, and he was super smiley. Check out all of that hair too!

Artist's Favorite

I now have a new logo that you may seen on some of your proofs. It is an "Artist's Favorite" logo. Often when I am proofing I will just love certain images, so I decided to mark them. Maybe it will help when you are deciding what to order by giving you a second opinion. Maybe not, but at least I am having fun doing it.

Here is an example from Savannah's session. I think this is my new favorite from her session. I converted the color to what is called "midnight sepia",which I think really works here.

I got a few willing subjects to photograph on my Holiday Set, at least as willing as a 1 year old will be. So here are some samples. This is Emma and Lola, Kyndal's little friends. The little pettiskirts that Lola is wearing in the last pictures are part of my studio props, so if you want to use them in your portraits please let me know. I have one each of red, white, pink, and black. They will fit 1-3 year olds.
